BACK WITH A BANG! PART 6 I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE (163)

It's important to note that
The positive side of THE POWER OF ONE
Cannot take control of the mind
Until inner strength in the form of
Compassion
Overcomes the ego's sense of hurt pride

Questions for today:
Why do we judge some
While sympathizing with others?
How doth sympathy differ from compassion
How doth sympathy and compassion
Differ from
Empathy?

How quickly
How often
How negatively
Doth we judge
That which we've not
Yet felt
For ourselves?
(RR&R)

Doth thee willingly eat thy fair share of crow
Or doth thee cling to the tower
With one hand
While holding fast to thy false sense of pride
With the other ...
Leaving no hand
To extend compassion to a loved one in need?

If you think
You can hold out
The hand of friendship
While viewing a loved one
In a darkly negative light
That's a sure sign of how
A conflicted brain continues to fool itself

Had I known that my mind was conflicted—
Socially fearful here/socially secure there
Perhaps the tornado, which empowered my spirit to tame that gang
Could have swept misery out of my closet, as well
However, we're not taught to pledge allegiance to THE POWER OF ONE
So ABC No Bullies for Me would not champion
My anxiety for decades to come

Thus during Annie's last year of Jr. High little will change ...
However decades later, while I was writing about eighth grade
Memories, which had disappeared into a dark well
Of defensive pain
Began to re emerge—one by one
And once these memories rose to the surface of my mind
I saw Annie and Joseph in a whole new light.

As this bigger picture clarifies in posts to come, you'll see why the sadness in my heart swung toward empathetic compassion for this boy, whose sadness, confusion, and pain had most likely matched my own throughout his years of Jr. High.  So what say you, Tonto?  Amazing how once clarity sweeps in, misery sweeps out of our minds—n'est pas?
(FYI here is a little known fact: Just like Annie, the Lone Ranger took French in high school.)
