756 UNDERSTANDING EXPANDS WHEN EXAMINING BIG RED FROM DIFFERENT POINTS OF VIEW: MINE FIRST :)

Some time back I penned a post
About purchasing my first new car, BIG RED :)
Previous to that experience I'd driven cars aptly defined as
Hand-me-downs
Before Big Red, I drove a clunker, costing $600.00
That clunker managed to break down so often that
Steven's first sentence was:  Mommy's car broke :)
One afternoon, five year old Barry exclaimed ...
This was the best day we ever had!
What makes you think that? I asked
With a huge smile, Barry replied,
Your car didn't break even one time!
In the aftermath of clunker number one
I accepted my husband's hand-me-downs with grace, until
The day when my amiable mindset changed in this way:
I got really tired of old cars stalling and waiting for AAA
The last time a hand-me-down stalled
I called a cab and simply left the tired old thing where it had 'died'
Needless to say, my husband was shocked at
This unexpected change in his compliant wife
Perhaps this change in attitude was due to
A simmering resentment that had reached boiling plus
All I'd read about raising kids with high self esteem ...
Perhaps much of the logic I'd absorbed while raising my sons
Had worked it's magic spell in terms of expanding my mindset
Concerning considering my needs and
Choosing to air those needs—cautiously but with dignity intact :)
At any rate, I'd decided that it was time for me to enjoy a new car
And with that new attitude in mind and since we could afford
To indulge my sense of joy—
A shiny, brand new RED car is what I drove off the lot :)
BTW the post about my love for Big Red can be found in a previous post
As for now ...
Here's how my attitude, concerning Big Red, changed over the years ...
I loved Big Red's huge, shiny, gorgeousness when 'she' was young
I loved Big Red's roomy interior when driving countless car pools
I loved stashing my growing family's groceries within Big Red's rear door
And after our frightening auto accident, I loved the safety
That driving a nine passenger station wagon had offered me
In short I had been utterly in love with Big Red for many reasons
Then, life changed, and though I continued to care deeply for Big Red
My eye wandered to a sleeker version of transport once
I was no longer driving a wide variety of car pools from dawn to dark ...
At that point in time, Barry was nearing the age to drive ...
Suggesting that Big Red took on new meaning to me ...
Old Big Red would provide a brand new teen-aged driver with
Lots of bumper, and this smacked of safety to parental concern
So though my passion for Big Red had waned
My attachment to its positive traits had not changed ...
Next up ... Barry's very vocal take on inheriting Big Red from Mom :)
