Though Barry and Steven had embraced
The Three Step Sanity Saving Problem Solving Plan as their own
That didn't stop their natural instincts
From thinking up ways to beat the system, thus
Causing their mom's think tank to dive into the deep end
In hopes of staying one step ahead of her bright, young sons' minds :)
For example:
One day this idea occurred to both boys at the same time!
It was smarter to be the patient one who offered the toy to a brother
Who would play with the toy for ten minutes before
Giving the toy back to the patient brother who
Demonstrating generosity, got to play with it for as long as he'd liked
Needless to say, on the day that
That train of thought occurred to both boys, simultaneously
They fought over who would give the toy to the other, as in:
No! You play with it first!
No! I'm giving it to you!
No! I'm giving it to you!
And this went on and on until I stepped in with a laugh and
Suggested that they were fighting about the toy in a new way ...
Which meant the toy would stay in the closet
Until they calmed down, which they could do ...
By themselves or in time out ... either way
The choice was their own ...
As to me, I chuckled throughout the day, to think of
How natural it is for human nature
To try to outsmart any plan
That a leader sets in place in hopes of resolving conflicts :)
In this case, the leader managed to regain control by
Laughing while encouraging her sons to see the humor
in fighting against a plan that
Had been 'thunk up' to maintain the peace :)
Tune in tomorrow to see more 'stuff'
That the boys' think tanks thunk up to outsmart mine :)
