2014
Though yesterday's post condenses that which I foresee as our future unfolds, if you ask me for more, I'd say: For the most part, we've not yet stopped 'swinging', blindly, from one extreme toward the other—as can be seen wherever we look, concerning sex running wild through the streets all the way down to junior high. When considering gains and losses, let's first consider what we've lost since the blind have been leading the blind ever more deeply into denial:
Generally speaking
We've lost all sense of respect for
Leadership
Beginning at home.
In Washington D.C.
And throughout the world
And that makes me ask:
Have we hit bottom?
I sure hope so, because then
A realistic sense of positive focus suggests
We have no place left to go but up
And if it's true that
Loss leads to pain before
Pain leads to gain
Then in terms of gaining insight into
The cyclical nature of societal history
I believe the swinging sixties
May have swirled us toward
Grasping, not the brass ring, but rather
The upswing side of this cycle where
An expanded sense of brotherhood
Will begin to encircle the globe
And rather than paying lip serve to
The importance of family and friends
We'll brainstorm, toward understanding
Both sides of human nature in hopes that
The Israelis' mantra of
Never Again! will prove true for one and all
If, by way of education, more of us embrace the humility and common sense necessary to reconsider our closed minded opinions then, hopefully, our minds will open to grasp hold of an ever expanding scope, concerning the importance of taming our vindictive tempers and boundless greed, so that solution-seeking trains of thought can replace defensive reactions, thus diffusing war-like patterns with patterns of thought based in self control and mutual respect ... over these next fifty years. And though I won't be here to see the fruit of that labor, This is what believe with tongue in cheek: If you are attentive to positive energy swooshing through the air, you'll sense the presence of my spirit smiling down from on high, because intuition suggests that when it's time for my soul to float up to The Pearly Gates, the doors will fly open, and once settled in my new home, I'll muster the patience necessary to enjoy my just rewards. You see, in the next life, good things happen for those who wait. In this this life, good things happen for those who work determinedly to keep positive focus intact.
2002
In the absence of well-balanced leadership, why should young people commit to anything in lasting ways? (Ask the questions, today; seek astute guidance; live into the answers, tomorrow ...)
2014
In lieu of mutual respect, the demise of one relationship leads to the demise of the next—and the next—until personal experience offers closed mindsets this choice: Shrink back from commitment and shirk off responsible behavior ... or listen to the sages, whispering through the ages, directing us to open our eyes, ears and minds in hopes of expanding our viewpoints while the bell shaped curve inches forward along the historical time line. If you do your part and I do mine, the learning curve of the world will evolve toward better days for one and all.
As educated men and women come to VALUE insight into denial and misperception, far and wide, more of us will feel inspired to consciously place fear to one side in order to embrace and enjoy certain aspects of life as well as people, whom we were taught were off limits until curiosity to experience the unknown, free of restraint and undeserved guilt, proves otherwise. Stories concerning the ways in which the melting pot, which began to boil over during the sixties, has actually been moving through the process of melting into change-for-the-better on a global scope, over these past fifty years, will be forthcoming.
2002When Mom asks for my perceptions, concerning men, women, leadership and sex, scampering freely from bed to bed at all ages, throughout society, today, I reply: We've not yet achieved a healthy balance … however, ever since the discovery of The Pill, we have been processing our way in a progressive direction, decade by decade.
"Decade by decade? Why does positive change always take so long to develop?"
