If only
The spirit of sages
had stopped by to visit
While Annie and Joseph
Had been standing in the alley ...
Staring into each other's eyes
This one act play
Would have offered
A happy ending to their story ...


I know this to be true
Because the voice of wisdom
Would surely have said:
Hello, Annie and Joseph
My name is Socrates
And as I'm mighty glad
To meet such nice kids
I've come to ensure
That your love rings true


So please listen up
And pay close attention
To what I have to say:
Before True Love
Can sink in deep enough to last
You'll need to discover subconscious wells
Deep inside your minds
Where negatively charged insecurities
Swirl round, dizzying your perceptions, today


In order to reveal
Insecurities
Which we hide from ourselves
We must muster the courage
To dive into those wells
Again and again
Until hot spots of unresolved anger and fear ...
Which cause
Negatively charged energy to explode
Are exposed and understood


Once self defeating insecurities
Surface and evaporate
Space is created
Inside the well of your mind
For positively focused emotions
To sink in more clearly
And thus more peacefully
Than ever before


As clarity
Replaces
Swirls of inner conflict
Insecurity
Transforms
Into self respecting, high self-esteem
And a new sense of self confidence
Opens our hearts
To well up with more love than ever before!


And if
This magical
Transformation
Takes place
Inside your minds—right now
Before our very eyes—
Then both of you will rejoice
In the sweet taste
Of true love's first kiss


And that
My friends,
Is the wondrous state of enchantment
Which would have made
Two spirits soar
Had the spirit of Socrates
Waved his magic wand over Annie and Joseph

Witness
Bliss

Annie and Socrates

Will not meet up

For quite some time ...
As for Joseph and Socrates
Well—your guess
Is as good as mine ...
Bottom line—preteens are hard wired
To be emotionally reactive and explosive
Rather than deeply reflective


So—If
True love's first kiss
Will not delight this love-struck pair
Then let's take a look at
What will go wrong
When Joseph's budding passion
For Annie
Unexpectedly wells up
And splashes out ...
