96b. END FIRST KISS Part 3: ONE THING LEADS TO ANOTHER (96b)

So back in the alley, next thing I know, I'm listening to:  God Damn It, Annie!  Look what you did!  When I get home I'm gonna catch it for sure!

As fury's burning arrow pierces my heart, my dreamboat bends over and grabs up the soggy mess, which had flown from his head into that muddied puddle of snow.  And while one hand shakes off lumps of muck and the other yanks on King's leash, The Leader of the Pack stamps off in a huff, down the alley toward his house, leaving Pixie and me staring after our menfolk in a mindless state of disbelief ... because no one would believe that of all the girls in our class, Joseph had just kissed the laughing stock from the bus, whom no guy in his right mind would ever ask for a date!  And as man with his best friend in tow fade from sight, I, feeling utterly dazzled by this shocking change in my fortune, turn toward my house and floating on air, take Pixie home.

Upon entering my house and bending down to unleash my pup, I have no clue of having taken another step further into the dark, hazy maze where I can't see the tree falling down in the forest to save my life.  But then lots of changes take place to which we're blind at twilight—and if the truth be told, do any of us really have a clue as to what shocking event may take place from one minute to the next?

In short, who can fault an inexperienced, childlike mind from conjuring pipe dreams out of daydreams while falling into the state of dreamscape that night ...
