97. END FIRST KISS Part 4: FUN HOUSE MIRROR
Sooo—you'd think
I'd feel
Devastated
Rather than bedazzled
Right?
Well—think again.
Selective memory paints
A wide variety
Of pictures
Inside our minds.
Most likely, my memory showcased Joseph's unexpected invitation and shocker of a kiss while the head-beating portion of 'our scene' must have taken a back seat. And here's why I believe that to be true:
Though no memories emerge of—going home, eating dinner, doing homework—I can actually recall falling asleep with a giddy sense of joy at the possibility that Joseph might consider me to be his girlfriend—I KID YOU NOT!
The mind is a master at manipulation just as a fun house mirror reflects distortions of the truth, in that:
What we hear and see and feel and whom we believe ourselves to be doth not necessarily match reality.
If
We doth not see
Or hear
Ourselves
With clarity
Any more
Than we see
Or hear
Others
With acuity—
Then
We'd
Be wise
To ask
ENT and EYE Doctors
To examine
The wave lengths
Connecting
Our eyes and ears
With our brains
When you see Annie enter the sixth grade cloak room, the next morning, you may agree with my perceptions concerning denial, because the domino effect of this star crossed, preteen, love affair is just getting started ...
