47 WORK IT!

We don't "get over" trauma.
Trauma must be identified and worked through
Otherwise we build a defensive wall around it—
Which layers up over time
To 'protect' our wounded sense of security
From facing a terror
That we'd rather forget
And thus do we wander
Ever more deeply into the maze of defensive denial.

Unfortunately
Defensiveness
Manifests itself
In surprising ways
Which keep us stuck
In the muck of that maze
Where fear of the past
Pulls our attitudes
Down, down, down
Until one day
The sun rises
But our spirits
Feel so worn to the bone
From expending energy
Upon fending off
Painful TRUTHS
That our bodies can't
Muster the strength
To get out of bed
And thus does
Our enthusiastic approach to life
Wind down
One tick
One tock
At a time.

And if we deny every
Conscious clue
Of what's real-ly taking place
Deep inside that anxious, traumatized part of our minds
Then the lives of others will move forward, as before
While we have no clue as to why we feel like 'gonners'.

So
Here I am, blogging away
In hopes of hearing myself
Ever more clearly
While singing out to all who care to tune in:
No more of that unbalanced teeter-totter ride—
UP!  down!  UP! down—whoops ...
Down-down-down for my spirit
Thank you, very much!

And so
If you'd like to explore
A new path where
Minds brim over with courage
More often than fear
So that common sense makes little of nonsense
Then just keep riding sidekick
Right next to me
Because at this point in my history
Intuition suggests that
I don't need to know
Where my mind is taking me, right now
Instead, I can sense that wherever I end up, next
My spirit will feel free to soar even higher
Than wherever my comfort zone
Had felt secure, before!

And as we zoom back and forth
Across the time line of my life
I believe that you, too, shall see
How the future of one's path
Is determined
By the bent of the thoughts
Which turns our heads
Toward or away
From details that reflect
A frightened mind in denial
Which needs to cover it's tracks
Or
self confident mind set
That consciously develops
The courage and humility
To explore new bodies of knowledge
In hopes of going toe to toe
With life's most painful TRUTHS
At long last!

Bottom line—
No more slip-sliding
Away from REAL-ity
For me!

What about you?

PS
Each of these themes may show up
Repetitively
For this reason:
Generally speaking
Challenging a closed mind set
To open sesame
And expand
Creates a disturbing sense of inner conflict
Which resolves
One slooow step at a time.

Therefore
I aim to show you
What it takes
To peel away at my defensive layers
So that you may
Consciously real-ize
That identifying a subconscious mind set
With a negative bent
Proves to be real-ly hard work.

So if I feel the need to
Reference certain themes repetitively
We may both need to muster our patience
Again and again.

Even so
Peace of mind
Is worth every effort
And—
That's more than enough of the
TRUTH
For today!
