1425 I GIVE THANKS FOR THIS THANKSGIVING CHANGE IN MY MINDSET ...

How is this Thanksgiving Day different from every other (except for two), which
We've celebrated in the southwestern desert for more than forty-two years?
I've retired
Passed the baton
And feel no inner conflict
Not one iota of divisiveness at this change in my mindset, at all!
And here's why that's true ...
With time, everything undergoes change, and though
Some changes prove near to impossible for the heart to accept
It was high time for this change to take place in our home:
Though I've not felt need to pass on the knish-making rolling pins
And frying pan, because my plan to create a party-like attitude of
The time consuming work was adopted, all around, I did feel
Need to pass the rest of the feast to one of our second cousins, who
For many years, along with several other cousins, had enjoyed
Flying their families in to share Thanksgiving I n our festively
Decorated home; and when she invited our family to
Join hers in her home, I, knowing my energy level to
Tire much more quickly, this year, than had been true over
The four decades, which had come before, Will and I
Have wisely passed the mantle of host and hostess to
Our younger cousin and her husband, who happily moved to
Our sunny city about two years ago, and so, this year
Our Thanksgiving traditions, along with our loved ones will
Celebrate in their home rather than ours, with this exception:
Our family's Tuesday night knish-making party remains firmly rooted
Within our home, and as good natured attitudes are conveyed on each
Smiling face, I don't see that untraditional tradition being in need of
Change for quite some time to come; in fact, this is the first year
That sees me awakening on Thanksgiving morning with
Naught on my calendar other than this. Steven plans to
Pick us up, along with David, so all of us can enjoy
Watching Ravi cavorting joyfully at a nearby park before
We come home to heat up and nosh on about twenty of the 100 knishes
While watching football on TV before carrying the rest to
Our cousin's at 5PM, and my heart and mind are feeling
As light and bright and free of conflict, concerning the aging process, as
Would a pair of love birds, which had need to cover the great distance
Separating inexperienced youth from today's insight driven
Conscious awareness, concerning my need to listen up each time
My power of intuition whispers of need to blend
Creative plans of action with self controlled common sense when
Change for the better proves necessary to my spirit's good health
And with today's train of thought in mind, I plan to maintain
My focus upon transitioning gracefully from this stage of life ever more
Deeply I nto the next by making such astute use of
My thought processor as to minimize fustration by
Maximizing my sense of  pleasure, so that, much more often than not ...
Life will feel great!  And with that positively focused attitude in mind
Imagine me awakening, today, feeling ever so thankful while reaching
For my iPad in order to pen this post in such a timely fashion as to
Wish you and yours the same loving Thanksgiving holiday that
I'm eager to share with mine, and as to all of our festive decorations, which
I've collected, over the years, we'll keep a few favorites as mementos of
Thanksgivings past while passing some to our cousin and The rest to our sons
OH MY GOD!  You'll never guess what just happened!
Doorbell just rang—and standing on the other side of
Our front door, we found Barry and Marie, who, being utterly unexpected
Released a heartfelt SURPRISE! And as none of us had a clue of their
Plan to fly from the coast to the desert, we were flabbergasted and
So joyful to be together to hug their hearts close to ours that—both of
Barry's brothers and Celina actually tear up a bit, along with
The chief knish-maker in the southwest, who'd
Consciously and thus gracefully chosen to pass
The feast onto a younger hostess, while keeping
The rolling pins and fry pan in readiness to welcome everyonr
To share in next year's knish party within our home
And with so much to feel thankful for—all I have left to
Say before caravaning to enjoy our Thanksgiving feast is
WOW!  What a day!
