Riddle:
Why am I writing the saga of my life?
Answer appears in riddles, below
Riddle:
If it's true that we all develop a social veneer (Ms. Cheerful, Mr. Logical, Ms. Wisest-of-all, Mr. Blue-I-don't-care-life's-a-bore) then what happens when we believe the persona, which we unknowingly parade in public as our true self, proves not to be one's whole self, through and through, after all?
If we believe our own personas, thus denying the fact that both sides of human nature exist within oneself, then we'll have no clue as to when we're not being true to basic needs, which exist at our core.
Riddle:
If we can't tell when we're being true to ourselves vs. when we're 'acting' as we think we should, what happens?
We fib to ourselves, concerning who we are and what we truly feel deep inside. In short, you don't have to indulge all of your needs, you just need to know your needs exist to feel whole. And not until you feel whole can you be true to both sides of yourself.
Riddle:
If, during life's impassioned, anxious or painful times, our defense systems move our minds into 'Denialand', bag and baggage, then what might Mother Nature say?
*Mother Nature would likely say: Excuse me, but denial is not meant to be a permanent state of mind. Denial is meant to provide a temporary state of numbness when a shot of reality proves too fearsomely painful to bear. By casting a temporary spell of denial over your senses, Mother Nature offers your defense system time to gain insight into creating a bridge, connecting your persona with reality so that your spirit will not be swallowed up by deeper truths too hard to bear. This bridge is meant to connect your heart and spirit with your brain's potential to develop a strong foundation based in fully baked inner strengths, so that the bridge between that which you want to believe and the other side, where reality exists, offers you time to decide that which your spirit needs to delight in each next wholesome, healthy stage of life. And thus, if we liken Denialand to a hotel, please do not remain lost in this altered state of mind for so long that you mistake undeserved guilt as being the same as the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. On the other hand, life is much too complex to be so hard on yourself as to imprison your spirit, which is meant to sing out so strongly that you can hear the song that makes your heart leap for joy, suggesting that balance in all things creates a thriving, soulful sense of peace of mind :)
Riddle:
Who shall determine whether feelings of guilt are real or undeserved?
You and only you :)
Riddle:
If a foundation of inner strengths fails to help a good person recognize bouts of undeserved guilt then what may happen to that individual's mental state?
That person may lose sight of his/her mind's ability to differentiate between personal shortcomings and strengths. And as your highly developed strengths may differ from mine, your path toward self discovery and mine may intertwine, here and there, without always feeling parallel.
Riddle:
If we deny our basic needs then what must we disown?
We disown a portion of our most natural character traits.
Riddle:
Which character traits do we disown?
We disown those character traits attached to emotions that we fear acknowledging to oneself. As fear of loss divides the mind into two parts, we must determine which fear is instrumental in guiding each next step of the path we feel the need to choose for ourselves :)
Riddle:
What happens to character traits that we refuse to acknowledge?
Character traits that we refuse to acknowledge fester inside until repressed emotion, which longs to burst forth in raw fits of passion, gives voice to its song ... You see, unlike Puritanical belief, I believe Mother Nature's gift of passion needs to feel ... natural. As we often need to muster the sum of our fully baked strengths to tame repressed passion, again and again ... Well, that's where The Line of Control enters stage right :)
Riddle:
What is the difference between being victimized as kids and victimizing ourselves as adults?
Whereas kids are truly vulnerable victims of fate, adults, who hide vulnerabilities from themselves may seek undo admiration from others
*As my stories continue to move back and forth across the time line, you'll see why self discovery, in terms of both sides of human nature, became vital to my spirit's well being.
Each time you see me visit overwhelming fear, you'll watch me break out of Denialand, by working, mindfully, toward peeling back layers of my defensive wall, in hopes of reaching so deep into my core that I can be true to myself, at last. Whew! Hard row to hoe—but depending upon that which I hope to sow, deeper truth suggests that no one can do this mindful work, which deepens my inner peace but me :)
Riddle:
If defense mechanisms blind us to our own negatively focused attitudes as well as to the fact that conflict creates anxiety then how can we tell when we're connecting with reality or not?
Good question, right?
In fact, I'll have to stop to think about that.
Oh! Wait!
Perhaps the only way to tell if our brains are fooling us is to reconsider trains of thought, which remain unclear, suggesting that our line of reasoning keeps running in negatively focused circles, repeatedly.
As I have to muster the courage to pinpoint which of my vulnerabilities keep tripping me up—and as I am a teacher of communications, who feels eager to pass forward insights that brighten my mind in hopes of communicating honestly with myself—well, my friends, I bare my soul by writing a post-a-day in hopes that by relating this saga of my life your spirit and mine will connect meaningfully, wherever you may reside around the world.
And as I believe you'd like to connect meaningfully, too, please know that if ever you'd care to air a question, thought or concern with me, my eyes, ears, mind and heart are open to listen to whatever you feel the need to say.
Your friend,
:) Annie
PS
One more riddle flew out of my mind :)
Do you have a clue as to which aspect of your life you may be afraid to face with clarity, today? As for me, I know that just as it's not easy for Kermit to be green—it's not easy to be human, either. So if you choose to continue to quest along with me toward seeking answers to life's classic riddles, which seem to perplex every generation, concerning how best to live our lives in such a well balanced way as to offer our spirits opportunities to experience joy to the fullest extent … and if you suggest that friends and family join in our quest, well that would please your friend, Annie, quite a lot :)
