Mom has been unresponsive for two days
I spent last night on the couch in her living room
Next to the hospital bed, where
Her body is asleep, while her spirit spans
The distance between two worlds ...
As this is where I felt most comfortable
Will chose to stay with me when
Our family hugged us and left to rest during the night
As sleep would not come
I eased my mind by writing about Mom
Though thoughts, which I spent the night writing
Will not be found here, I may have expressed
That which you'll 'hear' when she is at one with my dad
Actually, today's post, concerning FIRST DATE
Was written and saved in drafts, several days ago
In it you'll find vital details, which
May come as a surprise, and
For the sake of continuity
You might choose to reread post 944 and 949
Before moving forward ...
FIRST DATE ... Vital Details:
Morgan is not a guy
She called to set me up on a blind date
Morgan's boy friend had asked her to
Set his friend up for New Year's, and she chose to call me
A boy I'd never spoken to rang my door bell
This boy was as nervous about our blind date as me
Just as I'd clammed up with him, he never said a word to me
The party at Morgan's house had been thrown by her parents
As the guests in the living room
Had been Morgan's parents' friends, they were all adults
While making my way down that staircase
Where Morgan and her boyfriend danced
Hip to hip, eyes closed, my heart froze to think that
Maybe l was going to have to do that with a stranger …
When Morgan heard footsteps descending the staircase
Her eyes opened, and seeing me, she stopped dancing and
Smiled while introducing me to her boyfriend:
Hi Annie, this is my boyfriend, Ihavenocluewhathisnamewas
As to my date, his name was Ihavenocluewhathisnamewaseither
Well anyway, here's how my evening with
Ihavenocluewhathisnamewaseither went:
Morgan and her boyfriend pretty much ignored our presence
Especially while they were necking on the couch
Ihavenocluewhathisnamewaseither and I
Spent an exceptionally awkward evening standing around
Saying very little and having nothing else to do, we
Danced woodenly, now and then, about two feet apart
If you ask how long that evening seemed to last
I'd say about two weeks had passed between the time we'd
Walked down the stairs and midnight when
Morgan and her boyfriend rang in the New Year, wrapped within
A full bodied embrace while their kiss lingered, on and on
As for me, I had no clue where to look other than
At the very same spot on the floor, which had apparently
Mesmerized my blind date, as well
And though my first date did not end as disastrously as
Had my first kiss, here is why
This experience ranked nowhere near the vacinity
Of feeling successful on either side:
I never wanted to hear from
Ihavenocluewhathisnamewaseither, ever again
And common sense suggests that he found our evening
As awkward as me, because once my front door
Had been firmly locked between us
Ihavenocluewhathisnamewaseither
Never rang my bell, again
Silver lining to FIRST KISS and FIRST DATE ...
When considering change for the better
I had no where to go other than up
