POST ELECTION HIGH DEPENDS UPON POSITIVE FOCUS

Maintaining Post Election High Seeks An Attitude of Positive Focus ...

I’ve been texting with my cousin, Harry, in Miami—can’t believe everything all of my Floridian cousins have to do in preparation for each torrential tropical storm that hits hard though the eye of the hurricane most often bypasses their homes.

As often as I wonder why people rebuild in flood plains after entire towns are leveled, I’ll bet countless souls wonder why anyone would choose to move to the southwestern desert where summer temps rise above 115 degrees.  My answer?  We have air conditioning, and at summer’s end, our homes are still standing, and several months of glorious weather (no mud slides or raging fires endanger our urban/suburban lives).

Again, my therapist friends, working so many hours as to feel exhausted, tell me of clients, who, though employed, have need to control anxiety that spikes sky high now that their natural high over Biden’s win is experiencing withdrawal.

As to me, thank goodness, I’m feeling better, again, as long as I continue to remind any rise in anxiety, concerning Covid or trump, to relax until something actually changes, again, for the worse.

As a matter of fact, knowing that Biden was legally elected and trump’s litigious cases are being tossed out of court, one by one, I’ve decided to relax inner tension by gathering positives in my pockets as if gold coins, adding up, will buy me an umbrella with a silver lining on a darkly cloudy day.

For example, here are a few  golden facts, pocketed within the forefront of my mind: Both Biden and Harris are bright, affable, respected round the world, and our former VP is experienced in the inner workings of The White House.

He’s known to be a gracious negotiator with many friends in the senate, both red and blue, and he and Harris are surrounding themselves with a brain trust of brilliant advisors, all of whom are already engaged with brainstorming in hopes of beginning the work (that’s gone undone), necessary to eventually resolving our nation’s most vital issues, Covid topping their list—and with all of that productivity happening at the helm (none of which was true, over these last four years), our future is finally in good hands, again, despite trump’s cronies’ desperately flailing attempts to dig in their fallen leader’s heels based in the fact that, being blind to denial of reality closing in on all sides, the hole they’re still digging is so deep that the whole kit’n kaboodle is bound to spiral straight into a personal hellhole of each one’s own making.

As statements concerning  Pfizer’s Covid vaccine offer us this week’s natural high, hopefully, our children will be in their classrooms, enjoying their classmates, by Fall; and in addition to my feeling better, so far my family’s healthy—the heat’s broken—friends are visiting on our patio while we peer, smiling through the Arcadia door—plenty of positives keeping my think tank too busy to be a worrywart, needlessly, and many of these positives were not yet true, last week, so, having consciously empowered my intelligence to lower my processor’s absorption of anxiety concerning whatever remains unknown, inner tension has had just cause to relax, and resultant of that change for the better in my attitude, peace of mind is mine until it’s not, at which time, I’ll remind myself to pad the pockets of my mind with every gold coin I can find🙋🏻‍♀️❤️🇺🇸
