A WATCH DOG TO SAFEGUARD AMERICAN FREEDOMS

As copied from my Facebook page—

A post as clearly informative as the one penned below needs sharing so as to open countless pairs of eyes, which might otherwise be blindsided into complacency by imagining 45 wiling away his time on the golf course when in fact, his self inflated political ambitions continue to meet with those Republican senators and house representatives, whose extremist retro viewpoints threaten every democratic principle that preserves the freedoms of every person residing within The United States of America.  And as 45 has already proved himself a danger to presidential power changing hands peaceably as based in constitutional law, this self empowered leader of domestic terrorism has need of a watch dog, who will keep the American people’s peaceful sense of safety astutely aware of possible dangers brewing within our midst. πŸ‘©πŸ»

Posted by Barnett S. Lotstein:

Republican Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene  just told the media that she had a great telephone conversation with Trump.

Even out of office, Trump lends support and comfort to supporters of domestic terrorist organizations,  conspiracy theorists, extreme Trump cult members, and traitors to the constitution.

Republican members of congress are speaking loudly by their silence in condemning Greene. They are cowardly quivering before the alter of Donald Trump.

Greene has called school shootings, which resulted in the death of children, hoaxes. She has confronted teenage survivors of The Sandy hook massacre.  She has advocated the murder of Nancy Pelosi . She has supported the philosophy of QAnon.  She has insisted on bringing a gun into the Capitol.

This is the type of person Trump has lauded as a rising star and future of the Republican Party.

It is time for all true Republicans , for all real conservatives to abandon the Trump party as thousands have done already. It is time to relegate Trumpism to the trash heap of history

NERVE BLOCKS

Today, I was scheduled for nerve blocks at Mayo in hopes of relieving residual pain, radiating across my back ever since my surgeries, last summer, and now, my hopes are focused on being pain free

As soon as we arrived home, I, in need of feeling comfy, slipped into my Snoopy flannel pj’s followed by cozying up on my side of our king size bed with a throw across my lap, after which, I asked Will for Shelly’s pΓ’tΓ© on whole wheat crackers, and with thoughts of enjoying Andi’s hot and hearty mushroom/beef/barley soup for dinner followed by Sue’s mondel breit for dessert—my mind—filled with homemade pate, savory bowls of piping hot soup and baked treats studded with chocolate chips—felt my good fortune to love such kind hearted friends and to feel so deeply loved in return.

Since it’s been gray, chilly and raw, outside, today proved perfect for wrapping myself in warmth before settling down for a long winter nap, which lasted from 3 to 7 pm!  No chance of my falling asleep on the couch, leaning into Will, while binging on Friday Night Lights, tonight!πŸ™‹πŸ»‍♀️😊

PS Sooo—with right wing republicans back tracking over what they’d stated while standing on the floor of The Senate chambers concerning the violent insurrection perpetrated upon our Capitol via #45’s direction, I can’t help but wonder if nerve blocks have needled their memories, over the brief span of only two weeks time—Geez, the reason for a two party system is not meant to differentiate human minds so sane as to subscribe to reality from human minds so blind to reality as to reflect beliefs verging on the edge of insanity, but somehow, over the years, that differentiation has actually taken place.🀦🏻‍♀️πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

REMINISCING OVER WINTER WONDERLANDS, PAST

This weekend sees our son, Steven, and his family, up north, enjoying what has been our family’s cabin, which he just remodeled with central air and heat, a third bedroom, a garage and a wrap around deck, so that while they’re BBQ’ing, he, Celina and Ravi can sit outside, behind the cabin, which acing been built on sturdy stilts, overlooks Mother Nature’s tall Ponderosa pine trees with huge boulders, scattered below throughout the wash (ravine) instead of BBQing and relaxing, facing the street.  Phase two of their remodel will tackle the kitchen and bathrooms at a later, undetermined, date.

I love that, counting my parents, Ravi is the fourth generation to enjoy the cabin, which has long been my magic place, and with the addition of another bedroom, Barry, Marie, their boys and David hope to drive over from CA, this summer, so our grandsons, Tony and Ray, can enjoy building a fort in the wash along with Ravi, as did our three sons, several decades ago.😊

Steven has a four wheeler, which his family enjoys along with hiking in the woods with  their two beautiful Rhodesian ridgebacks, so time spent enjoying the cabin, near Flagstaff, offers their family’s sense of adventure an outlet as well as providing a relaxing get-a-way from daily life within a major metropolis.

This weekend sees them up north, playing amidst lots of snow, and I just received a text saying they’ve returned to the cabin after sledding with Ravi, so now, I’m picturing them with rosy cheeks, warming up in the great room, their hands wrapped around three steamy mugs of hot chocolate, and that vision makes me smile with a gentle sense of nostalgia, being that Barry was the same age as his boys are, now, and Steven was close to Ravi’s age, suggesting David was a toddler whose crib was seen between his brothers’ twin beds in the second bedroom, when we purchased the cabin, 42 years ago—chosen, over all the others we’d been shown, primarily because of its location, the greatroom and the wash, out back, which offered a huge rustic play space inviting three high spirited boys (and their friends) to exercise their lively imaginations before returning inside to woof down dinner and roast marshmallows after which Will made up super hero stories enjoyed, just before bedtime, by four or five mellowed out, young guys, who’d nestled down for the night in sleeping bags unrolled cozily close together on the carpeted floor within the larger expanse of the great room, where, over the next several decades, family life enjoyed leisurely meals, board games, crafts and charades—everyone’s favorite—with nary a tv or computer screen, anywhere in sight.

Currently in the valley, Will and I enjoyed a quiet, yet busy week, with friends coming for patio visits, every day.  Late yesterday afternoon, the warmth of our electric space heater proved necessary when Andi and Mike and our mutual friends, Judy and Julian, all masked, relaxed on our covered patio while rain fell, which thankfully stopped, before I’d tired, and our dear friends made their way back to their cars.

I’m welcoming a quiet day, today, while looking forward to enjoying another couple, our very first friends upon moving to AZ, who plan to come on Monday when the high is predicted to be 50 and rainy, which may be too inclement for those who’ve basked in the Vally of the Sun for close to 50 years, so we’ll not be surprised if our dear friends decide to postpone till later in the week when the temp is forecast to rise to 60 with sunny skies above ‘my’ mountain peak, arising majestically, day in and day out, directly behind our home.

I believe a winter storm is predicted for the Midwest—so, hopefully, when family and friends gaze wistfully through their windows at a winter wonderland, glistening, outside, each one will feel as relieved as I do now that we can count on Biden/Harris and their carefully chosen team of men and women, whose experienced expertise has begun to brainstorm our nation’s way through every crises exacerbated by the lies of the smarmy creature, who has crawled back into the swamplands where, hopefully, he’ll be swimming his way through legal troubles, over his head, thus hampering this lying charlatan’s reptilian brain from inciting yet another violent insurrection aimed at harming our nation, anew, while we place our faith in our current administration, composed of diplomatic states-persons, who prove capable of resolving highly complex, national problems, given time.

Personally, each time I’ve watched Biden address the nation as POTUS, my confidence in the strength of our democracy swells with a sense of patriotic pride, which I’ve not felt, over these past four deeply trying years.

My country, tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing!

And though a midwest/northeast/southeast winter storm may be imminently in store for many of my loved ones, hopefully, your hearts can feel mine holding Ravi’s magic wand aloft in hopes of guiding fluffy white clouds buoyed on the wings of doves to fly peaceably from D.C. toward each of you as intelligent steps taken to end this pandemic free all of us from quarantine, thus miraculously jump starting our nation’s economic recovery, at long last!

1 MY THANKFUL GRATITUDE FOR LABORATORY SCIENTISTS

While understanding the deeply concerned grumblings of those who have not yet been able to schedule appointments for the Covid vaccine, I’m proud of our nation, which having experienced a void of national leadership, over these rudderless four years, answered to the urgent need of haste with which our laboratory scientists have successfully tested, produced and are distributing millions of doses of this desperately needed, life saving vaccine.

And thus do I commend our scientists for being first responders along with exhausted physicians, nurses, and hospital staff, who have won the depths of my admiration and gratitude for services rendered to their fellow human beings regardless of political affiliation—and as I have experienced illness so grave as to have been hospitalized via the ER, several times during the Covid pandemic, my undying depth of gratitude for every first responder whose gentle smiles comforted my painful way forward, day by day, continues to give thanks, emanating naturally from deep within my still healing heart, and with our second dose of vaccine scheduled in early Feb., I hope you, too, have been registered if not as of yet then very soon.πŸ™‹πŸ»‍♀️❤️πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŒŸ

AN ODE TO OUR NATION’S YOUNG POET LAUREATE

 Even now

Two days later

I continue to feel

Both inspired and

Awestruck by

The lovely sight of

Youthful insight

Emanating from within

An exquisite sense of

Beauty proving

So naturally

Emergent from

Every delicate pore of

Amanda Gorman’s being

As had been precisely

Conveyed throughout

Our youthful

Poet Laureate’s

Profoundly talented

Patriotic recitation of

Hope laced with love of

Country, as in

The rainbow’s

Appearance after

The storm, the memory

Of which literally

Continues to hold me

Spellbound, today.

πŸ™‹πŸ»‍♀️πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŒŸ

Thank you to my dear friend, Freddie Lieberman, for being the muse whose simple question inspired my spirit to confer with my mind so that both colored in my heartfelt ‘rainbow’ reaction to Amanda Gorman by way of releasing a string of words dedicated to honoring the prodigious talents of our precocious  22 year old poet laureate, which will enrich the ear our nation’s soul beyond compare for many a year.

THE DAY AFTER THE BIG DAY

Though I felt elation when Obama was sworn in, a deep sense of relief was more in keeping with my feeling during yesterday’s Biden/Harris inauguration, based upon the frequency with which my short fused frustration felt lit if not enflamed pretty much daily over these past four years.

I can’t begin

To convey

The depths of

My relief at

Having been

Freed of feeling

Compelling need

To even mention

‘his’ heinous name

And if a gater on

The golf course

In Florida

Invites ‘him’

For dinner

I hope

The swamp creature

Has Tums handy

Though there’s

No telling

Which slimy

Swamp creature

Will devour

The soured mind of

The other, first

And if it should

Happen that

This pair

Wrestles to

The end of both

All the better

INUGURATION DAY DAWNS, AT LAST.

As today is January 20, 2021

The dawning of

This brand new day

Holds promise of glorious

Change for the better

 Beginning to free us to

Embrace a joyous jumpstart

As we, the people of The USA

Who have spent these past

 Four tormented years

Bidding our time until

Biden’s and Harris’s

Blessed Presidential and

Vice Presidential inaugural

Addresses to The USA and

The world at large

Take place, today

And the fact that

Our adventure forth

Matches theirs towards

Welcoming positively focused

Knowledgable leadership as

Your future and mine

Get underway

Is reason enough for

This intuitive train of

Thought to pull happily into

Its rest station, being that

All I’ve felt need to say, today

Has been peaceably said

Except for this—

USA—Hip Hip Hurray!

STEPS TOWARD RECOVERY ALWAYS REQUIRE TIME AND PATIENCE

 Good Morning!

I’ve lots of good news to relate, today😊

First off, my recovery continues to experience improvement, every day, as nerve pain has diminished to discomfort; breathing is easying and sudden drops in my blood pressure upon standing leaving me light-headed happen less often.

As my heart has been pumping better, my body receives more oxygenated blood, so my low energy level increases, little by little.

With a great deal of help from Steven and David, Will and I had our first dose and are now scheduled for our second dose of Covid vaccine the first week in Feb. so we’re all really stoked about that!  In fact, Barry exclaimed—that’ll be a great birthday present for me!

We hope all of you are taking every precaution to remain well and safe, especially since Biden’s inauguration may see domestic terrorists creating violence, again, as has been threatened by hate mongers throughout our nation.

Though we’re experiencing turbulent times, the Covid pandemic will pass, and this insurrection will be put down.  I just hope that in the days to come more lives are not lost to hate crimes, which continue to threaten the peaceful transition of Presidential power as stated with clarity within The Constitution  of The USA.

Sadly for everyone, the fearful, mean spirited side of human nature has perpetuated hate crimes ever since one clan of cavemen swung clubs at another.  And with that deeper truth in mind, I’ll not expect unrealistic, idealistic miracles to take place under Biden’s administration.  What I do expect is this:  The compassionate heart of this experienced statesman will seriously consider the sage advice offered by knowledgeable members of his cabinet, who have been appointed by Biden’s determination to refuel the engine of our nation (which has been thoroughly clogged with trump’s insidious lies) as positively focused, high octane energy necessary to heal the ills (perpetuated upon The United States of America by a dictator-want-to-be, who deserves to go down in history as the worst POTUS ever, as seen by the fact that the fascist nature of trump’s mindset to undermine our national security via ‘divide and conquer’) has seen our congress facing sound reason to call for impeachment twice within one term of office.  And hopefully, a second impeachment will come to pass, declaring the accused guilty of grievous criminal activities against our nation, ensuring that trump can never run for office, again.

As for now, as sung by a sweet little girl with a strong-hearted, upbeat spirit, tomorrow’s inauguration is only a day away!  And with Biden at the helm, positive changes in need of attentive leadership for hundreds of years, throughout our nation, will begin to get underway.

So just as with my recovery, I believe our lawmakers, elected to represent the will and needs of the people who, make up the majority of the whole of our nation, will begin to unclog so as to restart the engine necessary to move positive change forward, little by little, under the compassionate hearts, knowledgeable minds and strongly determined, positively focused spirits rightly attributed to Biden, Harris and their team of state/persons for sound reason.  And as today’s intuitive and thus positively focused train of thought pulls into the next rest station, I’ll conclude by saying—
Amen to everything that my mind, which has a mind of its own, felt need to convey concerning my personal beliefs, today.

SEDITION AND COMPLACENCY PROVE ACCOUNTABLE

I am deeply appalled but, sadly, not surprised that White Supremacy persists within the dark side of human nature so as to be passed down from one generation to the next.

I am surprised to learn that countless horrific events have been swallowed so wholly by history as to perpetuate the vulnerable ignorance of millions of peace-loving folk, inclusive of myself, who had remained blind to our lack of knowledge concerning tens of millions of Americans, who’ve been molded to absorb hateful attitudes born of bigotry, which build barriers around their hearts so solid that everything related to loving kindness grows stone cold and so completely hardened that compassionate logic cannot penetrate the insensitive wall erected around thug-like behaviors, so that these believers in violence become deafened to any plea for mercy once their hunger to vanquish their enemies (constituting anyone who has not been brainwashed to join their ranks in perpetrating hate crimes at their leader’s heartless whim), views mob mentality as reveling in man to man combat, the more blood shed ‘for the cause’ the better.

I feel compelled to pen today’s post in hopes of inspiring the American public inclusive of trumpers, who see themselves as caring, non-violent, patriotic peace.loving folk, to grow ever more aware of the fact that ignoring trump’s souless desire for anarchy condones heinous crimes committed in the name of self empowerment, because you cannot declare yourself pro-trump and innocent of standing with hard core seditionists, who prove fully capable of cold blooded murder.  You’re either on the side of liberty for all or on the side of incendiary violence based in a dictator-wanna-be’s self-aggrandizing need to smite all who threaten his imaginary kingdom with words of disagreement.

Please devote six minutes of your day to googling and watching this brief yet profoundly informative documentary:

A Night At The Garden.Com

With millions in need of awakening to today’s frightful reality staring each of us in the face—tis time to admit that we all have lessons to accept and absorb more deeply than ever before so that, by way of proactive comprehension, we can heal our nation from complacency as well as from divisive acts of sedition being that both are accountable for the fact that our national congress has remained  In a paralyzed state for decades—and that deeper truth suggests profound changes in our attitudes are necessary if Biden’s administration, which seeks unity and supports equality on every level of human existence, is to meet with success.  And as that pretty much covers what I felt compelled to say, today, I’ll rest my mind after wishing you a tender-hearted, peaceful kind of day.  Annie

LIFE PROVES LIGHT HEARTED AND DEEPLY SERIOUS SIMULTANEOUSLY

Penned yesterday, posted today

First off a question—

How is it possible that my second born son (who grew up hearing ‘you can choose to make your own way second to none’) is half a century, today, when I feel no older than 45?

It’s a wonder how each one’s personal connection to reality comes and goes.  On the other hand, tis a healthy, well balanced spirit that feels light hearted and younger than springtime more often than not—once lighting candles requires fire extinguishers next to our cakes.πŸŽ‚πŸ˜Š

So, let’s wish a very happy birthday to Steven, whom I’ve watched grow to manhood standing well grounded in self esteem while his smart heart cares deeply for family and friends every bit as mindfully as his brain divides its time seemingly easily between working seriously, thus successfully at building his law practice as he creates magic for Ravi, daily, by way of participating enthusiastically in imaginative play with family and friends so wholeheartedly as to make his parents’ hearts swell with loving pride to see our son’s good natured, fun loving, adventurous self so deservedly loved, respected and admired by so many, through and through.  And feeling my good fortune to be Steven’s mother for these past 50 years, which flew by faster that I can believe, in addition to enclosing so much love, here are my best wishes in hopes of his enjoying at least 50 more birthdays with those he loves in good health, happiness and inner peace. πŸ™‹πŸ»‍♀️πŸ˜πŸŽ‚πŸŽ‰πŸŽˆAnnie

INSURRECTION AND COVID 19

In answer to the question so often posed in the form of this statement—‘I can’t fathom why so many people have supported this maniac and the complete lack of backbone by the Republican Party,’ here is what I’ve come to surmise, over these past four incredulous years:  Sadly, we’ve come to see how despicably harsh the selfish side of human nature can be when unrestrained.  I believe that to their misfortune, trump supporters were not raised in homes enriched with high principled values such as accountability, mutual respect, loving kindness and generosity as had yours and mine.

To our good fortune, Will and I received our first inoculation against Covid 19, yesterday.  More about the surprisingly well organized nature of that procedure, later, as I’m feeling kind of funky in reaction, today

COURAGE SOOTHES FEAR

*I restrained myself from including any mention of violence in the personal health update posted earlier in the week in order to offer a message of hope without causing reason for conflict to invade the sense of gratitude conveyed.  So, here’s the gist of thoughts that remained unrevealed:

In this world of ours where hate crimes against humanity continue to arise, century after century, it’s vital to our wellbeing for we, who have been given every reason to fear gunfire announcing attacks on peaceful folk, alive one moment, dead the next, to consciously balance a growing sense of anxiety with the acknowledgment that anxiety, left to grow beyond cerebral control suggests that the side of your nature (or mine), which subjects our minds to live in fear of tomorrow is enemy #1, being that fear holds the bright, beautiful, joyous side of your mind hostage, blinding us to this deeper truth:  None know beforehand when or where or how our lives will end.  None know who will live to dance at his/her 100th birthday party, as did my beloved mother or who will be taken from us while napping, as did my baby sister, whose life had been sniffed out just her sweet smile had begun to respond to ours.

Each time my anxiety rises but before it spikes, the discipled side of my mind takes control over my instinctively fearful side by filling my entire mind with self soothing words such as these:

‘Outside my front door acts of violence may be taking place but at this moment, reality reflects the fact that I am safe in the surroundings that Irwin and I created to express our innermost selves: then I go to a window and witness peacefulness or walk out onto my patio and breathe in nature at its best until my brain’s self discipled side has soothed any leftover anxious thoughts, lingering within my brain’s fearful side, which actually has a name—the limbic system (google it), where basic instincts of fight, flight or freeze take over the undisciplined brain, literally freeing spiking anxiety to paralyze the Neo Cortex from any cognizant thought or logical plan of action if danger is actually present.

Though many months of chemo offered miseries requiring several hospitalizations, the self disciplined side of my brain would soothe the fearful side by saying chemo is not our enemy,  Chemo is working it’s magic to help me battle to save my life, and most days and nights, my self disciplined side consciously fed courage to my vulnerabilities so as to decrease anxiety born of unresolved inner conflict arising within as in—I can’t take this anymore/yes we can if we want to enjoy life for many more years.  Your mother lived to one hundred and we, our fearful side and our courageous side need to believe that we can do the same by acting in our own best interests as a whole, because as a whole, we can take a leap of faith over fearful quicksand and land on solid ground.’

If you ask, did you really talk to yourself that way?  I’d reply as fast as a blink of the eye:  I talk to myself, all the time, and so do you—the difference is that I’ve cultivated the voice of productive positivity as penned above, so as soon as fear stimulates my adrenal glands to fill my vessels with more adrenalin pumping than oxygen in case a near and present danger forces me to run for my life, my courageous side makes good use of that huge spurt of energy to grab onto my fearful side so that all of me can leap over inner conflict and land on the shoreline where my whole self can think straight toward brainstorming with myself until a logical solution to whatever scared me pops up through my confused state of mind.  In order for my technique (which actually goes from fear to courage in seconds) to work for you, trust and respect must be present.  In short, you must have sound reason to respect yourself and trust your judgement.

Intuition fueled tonight’s train of thought to chug along until I’d soothed myself in hopes of sleeping soundly through the night while everyone throughout our nation, including my thoughtful side snd fearful side, awaits attacks of violence to take place, here or there perhaps tomorrow—but at this very moment in time, my loved ones are safe and so am I, and just as I’d entrusted my life into the well trained brains of several doctors before they put me to sleep, I’ve entrusted my thoughtful, self discipled side to befriend, sooth and calm my basic instincts in hopes of having sweet dreams until the danger stalking us all actually knocks at my door ...

When I began to write, tonight, the conscious portion of my brain had no clue that this stream of consciousness, which has been flowing freely from my intuitive and thus non-conflicted neo Cortex, was about to describe the way inner conflict heightens anxiety, when fear creates mental confusion, which in turn stimulates an over production of adrenalin, reducing our oxygen levels needed to think with common sense clearly in mind.  But since so many people express anxiety over violence surging suddenly somewhere at some time where we may not be able to do anything to help, I’ve decided to reveal the technique that works wonders for me.

In short, when the fearful side of my brain unhinges the clear thinking side, my well practiced solution seeker shelters fear with three words:

I am safe

And I repeat those words, aloud, until reality suggests that I’m living in the moment with my whole brain intact.

And now that both sides of my brain feel wholly safe, tonight, I’ll bid you good night till the sun shines, tomorrow,  when, bright and early, I’ll arise and ready myself to ride next to Irwin as we line up outside our stadium for our first vaccination against Covid, which I see as the next step taken toward my leaving the safety of our home, hopefully, sometime this spring.πŸ‘©πŸ»πŸ™‚

PS   This is the first time in my life that I’m happy to be over 75 and eager to roll up my sleeve to welcome a shot ...

πŸ™‚POSITIVE HEALTH UPDATE

Considering everything that’s all a-swirl throughout the world, we welcome each day as it comes and manage whatever fate leaves at our front door.

Though energy still evaporates into thin air and I often feel short of breath, I can now accomplish a task for about five minutes before light-headedness sees me needing to sit down, and as pain continues to decrease, I sure am thankful for changes like thatπŸ™‚

Each time I reflect over this last year, inclusive of every personal step forward that our family and friends endured with me, my gratitude for each of you and eagerness to enjoy life beyond my front door continues to encourage me to regain my physical strength within the cradle of love that buoys my spirit, every day.

As presently, positives, concerning my personal life, outweigh long lasting aftereffects of back-to-back surgeries, 3 to 2, and as my surgeons continue to see my process of healing progressing in keeping with their expectations, my acceptance of ‘being’ rather than ‘doing’ steadies my level of patience.

Once the Covid pandemic (AND hopefully, political pandemonium) are under control, we look forward to dinners in restaurants with loved ones who live nearby and flying to hug family and friends who are a plane ride away; we’ll enjoy popcorn at the movies, make plans for coffee and lunches and accomplish whatever ignites each of our individual passions while encouraging the next generation to take hold of the ‘change-for-the-better’ baton.

With deep appreciation for all your good wishes and delicious goodies, Irwin and I hope all’s well at your end.

CONSEQUENCES WILL PREVAIL

THEY have always walked amongst us for the most part unseen until their presence was plainly acknowledged during the presidential debate when trump’s refusal to denounce THEM gave wantonly dangerous gangs of white supremacy HIS permission to stand up and be seen.  Then during the electoral count, he personally provoked his standing army of thugs to storm the Capitol as if to seize control over The Federal Government of The United States of America, and based upon this pair of sound facts, clearly witnessed by the world at large, I feel compelled to ask, why is this mean spirited, demented being without a soul free to roam around The White House proclaiming he did nothing wrong when the 25th amendment awaits immediate invocation?  Spinelessness strips those in power of doing right.  In this case, silence is commiserate with cowards crouching in quicksand that’s risen above their ears ... as to trump and his family of criminal provocateurs, I have no doubt that their time for consequences will surely come to pass as in what goes around comes around ... πŸ‘©πŸ»Annie

WILL CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE EXACERBATED BY trump ESCALATE INTO THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR II?

A lot more than unpresidential whining on Twitter has riveted worldwide attention onto D.C., today, resultant of trump’s directives that trumpers storm the Capital, but rather than hearing Viva Le Republique, we’re utterly dropped jawed, eyes glued to our screens while watching our president’s attempt to turn our democracy into a dictatorship, though why in the aftermath of these past four years of one atrocity following another, we’d react with dumbfounded astonishment makes as little sense to me as trump’s belief in his own lies, and if the violence that he provokes comes to pass, he’ll not give a thought as to how many lives of his staunchest supporters may be lost, today, any more than he cares about hundreds of thousands of Americans, who, based in his heartless inaction, have succumbed to Covid, which in his demented estimation is no biggie.πŸ‘©πŸ»

In real time, before our disbelieving eyes, we watch, aghast as civil unrest escalates into Civil War II—not North vs South, not Democrats vs Republicans, but between minds based in factual sanity vs minds based in make believe more fantastical than any Star Wars trilogy.  Today’s history-in-the-making is nothing short of horrific.πŸ‘©πŸ»

AULD LANG SYNE

As New Year’s lengthy, celebratory weekend drew to a close, here were my wishes for a happy, HEALTHY welcome to 2021–I hope that each of you experiences as many peaceful moments as possible during this turbulent period of transition between trump’s leave-taking and Biden’s readiness to inspire the de polarization of our nation, which proves essential if we are to embrace change for the betterment of men, women and children with a heightened sense of self awareness concerning each person’s heartfelt capacity to expand the greater good, over all, by identifying those times when defensive reactions blind us from retaining positive focus in order to maintain our commitment to shower our fellow human beings—as blind as WE may prove to be to our personal faults, fears and frailties—with self-empowering inner strengths inherent within your personal choice and mine to adhere to an attitude of loving kindness wherever we go—once we can actually, finally, safely and joyously leave quarantine and polarization (but perhaps not masks and Purell) behind.

Hooray for 2021 in which we toast to political sanity, vaccination, less exhausted first responders, courageous teachers (inclusive of home schooling parents), and scientific souls, working in labs, non stop, toward providing this world, which we share, with millions of life saving meds— ASAP—so as to save the lives of many millions of loved ones—one of whom, most recently, has been none other than—me!
With gratitude (for being alive), loving hugs and high hopes of experiencing many sighs of relief as we roll out the red carpet to welcome in the New Year, our hearts, minds and spirits will continue to be fueled by the timeless and magical essence of love!

GUNNING FOR PEACE—RAT-A-TAT-TAT

Directly below you’ll find my reply to a daily ‘checking in’ text from a dear friend who, while power walking in the Midwest, ran into a rat:

Next thing I know, your caring heart will have welcomed this hungry creature home to warm up and enjoy a hearty breakfast with you.😘

On a serious note, have you resumed watching the news?

Following trump’s hour long call to hassle Georgia’s Secretary of State to join him in committing election fraud ‘or else’, our nation may go off its rocker, BIGTIME.

In case you’re still boycotting the news in hopes of retaining your calm before the storm, tis best to be aware of trouble afoot while walking outside by yourself in case the crazies may be readying themselves in full force with mischief in mind, suggesting our being cautiously self protective so as not to be inadvertently caught up in anything untoward.

(I googled and copied the quote directly below)

The hate group, “The Proud Boys, is back in D.C. to protest the certification of the presidential election results. January 4, 2021, upon entering the District of Columbia and pursuant to a DC Superior Court Arrest Warrant, MPD members arrested 36 year-old Henry ‘Enrique’ Tarrio, of Miami, FL.”

Who knows where the dark side may plan to turn up, next?  Safety First, over these next several days, may warrant remaining inside till Darth trump calls his hate mongering bullies to ‘stand down’.😑

On a lighter note, though David’s leave-taking, yesterday, provided my spirit with a sense of loss, tis good to know that I awoke, today, with a balanced view of life—crazed as it may be.

If our choice is: Love—health—money—power then I’ll choose just enough of the last two to feel independently secure and an abundance of the first two to buoy my spirit in the event of a donald trump charlatan in sheep’s clothing knocking at my door, asking me to come out to play cops and robbers—for real!

Love you, dear friend!

πŸ™‹πŸ»‍♀️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️  PS

Haha!  The joke’s on me!

Not a hungry rat, you say, but rather a busy beaver securing his lodge, same as you and me.  BTW, our affable furry friend asked my friend to tell me to tell you he’d voted blue.πŸ™‹πŸ»‍♀️☺️πŸ‘πŸΌ

WILL trump’s MOST RECENT BOMBSHELL RESULT IN HIS FINAL IMPLOSION, AT LAST?

What more must be witnessed before trump’s traitorous egocentric madness is legally stripped of all presidential powers with expediency specifically to safeguard our hard hit democracy from incurring further harm?  We now add concrete prove of voter fraud to what had been his whispered list of felonies as if ignoring his bold faced lies contradicting the pandemic’s negative effect perpetrated upon our crippled economy has not been criminal enough to disempower his addled brain, which had heartlessly dismissed hundreds of thousands of needless deaths in order to fan the flames that stir the stew until, having reached its boiling point, the concept of mutually respectful brotherhood, which serves as the primary strength that keeps a world power great, burns to a crisp during dire times that try the souls of men, women and children, declaring more than 70,000,000 Americans adhering to leadership’s lack of moral judgement as a whole.  What more must this charlatan say and do to be locked away with his unlawful family and clone-like cronies for too many years to count?  Let’s try trump’s most recent criminal action, as deemed colossal in nature, on for size:

January 3, 2021 (Sunday)

Professor Heather Cox Richardson

“Today’s news starts yesterday, when Trump called Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to demand he overturn the results of the presidential election in Georgia and deliver the state to Trump. Raffensperger apparently recorded the call, keeping it handy in case Trump misrepresented it publicly. This morning, Trump did exactly that, tweeting: “I spoke to Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger yesterday about Fulton County and voter fraud in Georgia. He was unwilling, or unable, to answer questions such as the ‘ballots under table’ scam, ballot destruction, out of state ‘voters’, dead voters, and more. He has no clue!” Raffensperger retweeted the president’s accusation with the comment: “Respectfully, President Trump: What you're saying is not true. The truth will come out[.]”

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Washington Post both obtained a recording of the conversation and published news of the call this afternoon, revealing that Trump had asked Raffensperger to “find” the 11,800 votes Trump needed to win Georgia. In the hour-long call, the president rambled through the conspiracy theories about the election—all of which have been debunked—seeming to believe them. He insisted that there was simply no way he could have lost in Georgia, and cited the size of his rallies there as proof. Trump asked Raffensperger to adjust Georgia’s vote to give the election to Trump by a single vote, telling him that he could just say that he had recalculated.

Trump made vague threats against Raffensperger and the secretary of state’s general counsel Ryan Germany, suggesting that their unwillingness to find the ballots Trump insists are missing puts them at risk for criminal charges. He bullied them—talking over them and at one point telling Raffensperger “only a child” could believe the vote counting was fair-- and warned them that it would be their fault if the Republican candidates lost in the January 5 runoff election since “a lot of Republicans are going to vote negative, because they hate what you did to the president…. And you would be respected, really respected, if this can be straightened out before the election.”

After running through all the conspiracy theories and suggesting that Raffensperger and Germany might face criminal charges, Trump said: “So what are we going to do here folks? I only need 11,000 votes. Fellas, I need 11,000 votes. Give me a break.”

Joining Trump on the call were White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows; lawyer Cleta Mitchell, a prominent right-wing lawyer who had managed until now to keep her participation in Trump’s efforts to overturn the election quiet; and lawyer Kurt Hilbert. Meadows was more reasonable than Trump, but he, too, asked Raffensperger “to look at some of these allegations to find a path forward that’s less litigious.” (Raffensperger replied: “[w]e don’t agree that you have won.”)

Mitchell and Hilbert backed Trump and Meadows in their repeated demand for information about voters, including their voter IDs and registrations. This is voter data to which, by law, they cannot have access. (When Germany answered that the state is prohibited from sharing that information, Trump retorted: “Well, you have to.”)

University of Georgia Law Professor Anthony Michael Kreis told Politico reporters Allie Bice, Kyle Cheney, Anita Kumar, and Zach Montellaro that it is against the law in Georgia for anyone to “solicit” or “request” election fraud. “There’s just no way that… he has not violated this law,” Kreis said. Michael R. Bromwich, former inspector general of the Department of Justice, tweeted that “unless there are portions of the tape that somehow negate criminal intent,” Trump’s “best defense would be insanity.”

David Shafer, the chair of the Georgia Republican Party, tried to excuse this extraordinary conversation by tweeting that the phone call had been a “confidential settlement discussion” of two lawsuits Trump has filed against Raffensperger, and that the audio version the Washington Post published was “heavily edited and omits the stipulation that all discussions were for the purpose of settling litigation and confidential under federal and state law.”

Marc E. Elias, a lawyer leading the Biden team’s litigation efforts to counter Trump’s lawsuits over the election, knocked that explanation flat. “Trump and his allies have lost 60 post-election lawsuits, including several in GA,” he tweeted. “There are no cases that could have plausibly been the subject of settlement discussion. Oh, and I represent parties in all of those cases, so I would have had to be on the phone as well. I wasn't.”

President Richard M. Nixon resigned after his people orchestrated an attempt to bug the Democratic National Committee headquarters in the Watergate Hotel in Washington, D.C., before the 1972 election, and then covered up that burglary. What is on this recording makes the Watergate scandal look quaint. President Trump, his chief of staff, and two of his lawyers have been recorded pressuring state authorities to change vote counts so they can steal an American election. Especially considering that we know he pressured Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky to help him win in 2020, we have to assume this is not the only call like this he has made in the last several weeks.

The only more thorough attack on our democracy would involve the military and, not coincidentally, tonight all ten living former defense secretaries, including two who served under Trump, signed a letter to the Washington Post reiterating that the military should not be involved in determining the outcome of an election. They warned that any efforts to involve the military in an election dispute “would take us into dangerous, unlawful and unconstitutional territory,” and noted that any civilian or military official who either directs or carries out an order to get involved in an election “would be accountable, including potentially facing criminal penalties, for the grave consequences of their actions on our republic.”

This bombshell recording changes political calculations across the board.

Republicans have been lining up either for or against the president, showing their loyalty by backing his attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election. More than 100 House members have said they would contest Congress’s January 6 counting of the electoral votes from states Trump continues, without evidence, to claim he won. On December 30, Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) agreed to join them, at least for the state of Pennsylvania. Then, yesterday, twelve senators, led by Ted Cruz (R-TX) said they would reject the votes from all the contested states and demand an audit of the election results there. They don’t expect to change the election—the results are clear—but lawmakers backing Trump are hoping to court his voters for future elections as they try to step into the vacuum his removal from office will create.

It’s a cynical and dangerous position, and standing against them are lawmakers like Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) and Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE), who note that the 2020 election was overwhelming and clean, and that Trump is attacking the very basis of democratic government as he tries to change the outcome of it. They are hoping to pull the Republican Party away from Trump and his followers.

The struggle between the two factions was out in the open by yesterday, and shortly before the news of the recording dropped, two Republican leaders sided against the lawmakers planning to contest the counting of the electoral votes. House of Representatives Conference Chair Liz Cheney (R-WY), who is responsible for electing the House Republican leadership and managing committee assignments and who is therefore very powerful, sent a 21-page memo to her colleagues warning that such a plan would set a dangerous precedent, enabling Congress, rather than the states, to choose the president. She concluded: [B]oth the clear text of the Constitution and the Electoral Count Act [of 1887] compel the same conclusion—there is no appropriate basis to object to the electors from any of the six states at issue.”

Former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI) also issued a statement condemning the plan. "It is difficult to conceive of a more anti-democratic and anti-conservative act than a federal intervention to overturn the results of state-certified elections and disenfranchise millions of Americans," he wrote.

These two defections from the Trump camp were not, perhaps, surprises, but the news of this extraordinary recording now offers an opening for others to slide away from Trump. Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR), who has been a staunch supporter of the president but who seems to be trying to position himself for a presidential run in 2024, tonight also rejected his colleagues’ plan to challenge the electoral count on Wednesday. His statement split the difference between the two Republican factions. He reiterated many of the Trump camp’s talking points but, like Cheney, objected to their plan to overturn the election in Congress on the grounds that the last thing conservatives, who object to the power of the federal government, should want is a stronger Congress. Cotton's defection is a sign that the recording is undermining Trump's position.

If there is one good thing for the president in all this, it is that this stunning news has taken the media focus off the coronavirus, at least for a few hours. More than 350,000 Americans have now died of Covid-19; more than 20 million Americans have been infected. “Cases are rising, hospitalizations are increasing, deaths are increasing,” Dr. Henry Walke of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention told Tim Stelloh of NBC News. CDC Director Robert Redfield agreed, adding that the winter months “are going to be the most difficult time in the public health history of this nation.”

Thank you Professor Richardson for, yet again, opening our eyes to political subterfuge so damningly criminal in nature as to incite staunch Republicans to jump ship in hopes of the captain going down, all alone, twittering all the while as his mind descends into total darkness till his tentacles, losing sight of all direction, wrap ever more tightly around his own neck, so that upon sputtering his last desperate plea, here is what we, who listen vigilantly hear—Who will save me from the Democrats who are determined to choke me to death, and thus must we stop them from winning Georgia by even one legally cast vote.  And with trump’s declaration of guilt astutely taped (yet again, says Me Too) for posterity, today’s intuitive train of thought running on parallel tracks directly behind Professor Robinson’s knowledgeable history-in-the-making mind, I can clearly see my brain’s rest station beckoning peaceably, directly ahead.

KINDRED SPIRITS

As Americans upholding a self-made democracy, you and I could never imagine trump as having been elected to the presidency, and thus were we blindsided (just as many Germans had not preconceived of hitler’s rise to power before his eventual self destruction led to the end of WWII), because we who’d felt financially secure ‘slept’ through the years when too many ‘have-not’ Americans felt furiously disenfranchised by and polarized (rightly so) from the ambitiously unrestrained greed of the super wealthy 1%.   In retrospect, our nation was ripe for a charlatan take-over by someone; however the fact that Trump filled that bill was astounding, being that this braggadocio was amongst the 1%, who cared naught for the woes of the common man.  And of symbolic interest is the fact that our myopic vision failed to verify the passive part played by our complacency till reflection clarified our lack of 20/20 vision until 2020 at which time, communal threat of Covid hit us, one and all, right between the eyes.

During this time of national polarization, tis heartwarming to focus upon my heartfelt connection to a deeply cherished friend from high school, with whom I exchange texts, every day, who’d sent me a photo, several weeks ago, of her youngest grandchildren all bundled up while shivering on her back porch, and with five separate flames (inclusive of the Shamash) shimmering brightly over individual candles, each standing in its own holder, my friend’s family menorah symbolizes the fifth night in which oil enough for only one night continued to light the eternal flame, signifying the eight day miracle of Chanukah in the aftermath of the Maccabee family winning their freedom from unwarranted servitude, during biblical times. And with the Menorah on this outdoor table with the approach of a Midwest winter’s eve, grandkids, huddling close together for warmth, are seen enthusiastically intent on biting into chocolate coins while opening Chanukah presents, their Dreydl being the only tradition missing from this year’s outdoors, masked celebration of miraculous freedoms, because hands inside mittens encounter difficulty spinning a top.

My text went on to say that my friend’s precious children (and mine) both big and small, are watching as she and I role model how best to maintain the on-going strength of family togetherness during life’s trying times, which classically cast dark clouds over each next generation’s sense of good natured, well intentioned, purposeful success, seemingly from out of the blue, though stormy times do not come without warning.  Time and again, Denial casts veils over the darkest of hints, which then are classically missed by too many until those most deeply affected prove to be—you and me.  And though our initial reactions demand to know—from where this horrific event came—deeper truth, buried subconsciously, will not filter into our conscious minds until some event triggers a heightened sense of self awareness to one’s own lack of sensitivity to the intensity of pain or loss or poverty suffered by others until their pain or loss or fear or poverty matches our own.

Every day, my hard working, social worker friend and I bid each other a good morning as we both prove to be intuitively determined to ‘do our thing for the betterment of humankind’ in hopes that, one day in the distant future, she and I will leave a positive footprint upon this planet of ours as we each actively participate in rebuilding a better place for human life to thrive than our world had known to provide when we were as young and innocent of understanding both sides of human nature as is true of the innocence of her precious grandkids and mine, today.

Kindred spirits are we, since our late teens, so tis no wonder why our truthful yet oh so tender friendship continues to grow ever more mindful of each other’s loving kindnesses no matter how many miles prevent our sipping the same cup of tea.  And thus, as neither has slipped away from the other, over these past 45 years of separation by 1500 miles, we each raise a glass to coach or toast each other’s mutual inner strengths, metaphorically, several times, daily, by way of texting without worry of growing so tipsy as to fail to welcome the dawning of each brand new wondrous day as our future continues to unfold in the most unexpected and thus intriguing ways—and as melanoma is not to be taken lightly, Will and I are sending our best wishes to my friend’s husband on the outcome of his Moh’s surgery, tomorrow. (Satisfactorily resolved.) Please let us know how both of you are, afterward, just as we’ll fill you in concerning my biopsy report, if not today then hopefully, on the morrow (also satisfactorily resolved), as life often offers our hearts more than one worry to handle with self disciplined intellect intact—and that’s the timeless truth. πŸ‘©πŸ»❤️

If you ask from whence this old English vibe infiltrates my choice of words, here would be my reply—intuitive musings of my mind, while writing, must wander through my subconscious memory’s personal library of English novelists and biographers, thus enhancing my sensitivity to the emergence of English idioms, mid sentence.

And having reminisced, over these past several weeks, this text to my friend will be considered a wrap for right now, as my attention switches tracks from that which has passed toward readying my mind toward the mutual enjoyment of zooming this afternoon’s NFL game with beloved family residing hundreds of miles away

With three days to go before all eyes, concerned with the outcome of the upcoming election in Georgia, I’ll bid you adieu until next we meet ... πŸ™‹πŸ»‍♀️Annie

AN INTUITIVE CALL TO ACTIVATE NATIONAL AWARENESS

Having mustered the courage to confront my fears—here goes a plunge into the dark side of my mind:

As commonly happens, upon awakening, today, an intuitive train of thought stood up on its soapbox so as to speak of fear (or perhaps, deeper truth) to the most absorptive portion of my conscious mind, and here is what my soul felt need to clarify for me on New Year’s Day:

At birth, your body and mine serve as strong spirited vessels with brains having been readied, during the nine month period of gestation, to leave the womb with the purity of innocence and wisdom, blended so thoroughly into our DNA, as to have recreated the matrix, composed of a myriad of old souls, having passed through eons of life, repeatedly, resultant of highly personalized experiences, stored in ‘subconscious’ memory, offering each next generation of human life boundless opportunities to imbue the present with the knowledge of scholars, who have long passed into the great beyond as mankind continuously develops a future in which the unique bundling of personal experiences (as absorbed by the young sponge-like brain of every individual) will determine whether each person’s  life-long path will lean more readily toward inhaling good vs evil attitudes followed by exhaling more of whichever side of human nature has been offered, most often, to each newly hatched ‘old soul’ harbored within the open-minded innocence of every child whose primary role models will inadvertently set into motion the fluidity of each next generation’s personal strengths and weaknesses leading one nationality or another to adhere more or less securely to the step by step process of accomplishing high principled achievements associated with the ultimate attainment of a success oriented, matched set of classic goals while another nation’s addiction to greedy agranulocytosis can’t help but spiral from the pinnacle of success toward the eventual debasement of self destruction based in the mean-minded sudden implosion of leadership’s delusional state of self-aggrandizement that adheres to the childish (not to be confused with childlike) churlish belief that every horrific decision made by this mentally deranged think tank, which has been thoroughly indoctrinated with the stone cold impression that dictates—tis good to be King of the world—grabs the attention of a deeply disillusioned, disenfranchised people, ready to blindly elevate one person to fully inhabit this untenable, all powerful position, and once this attitude infiltrates the gullible minds of millions, your intuitive intelligence and mine must remain vigilantly aware of that which WE may be forced to confront during these last critical days once the donald’s enraged, deeply betrayed, deranged mental state refuses to face the demise of his self delusional reign of terror without unleashing out-and-out war upon everyone of us, who, seen as his personal enemies, will either be brought to our knees begging for mercy or find ourselves facing utter ruin while the malevolent madness of this pathological suicide bomber hunkers down, as did Hitler, in a bunker once it was obvious that WW II had reached its bloody end—with this caveat—if trump is not stripped of his imaginary self empowerment—with immediacy—who knows how or when this self destructive lunatic may push the button igniting WWIII before blowing himself and The White House, as well as you and me to smithereens—

Both the FBI and the police ignored the warning, which could not have been stated any more clearly, offered by the girlfriend of the most recent home grown bomber in the history of crazies left free to do harm at will throughout the USA.

Only this week, one crazed serial killer admitted to getting away with over 70 murders, causing me to wonder if, over the years, he’d lost count of many more—each one—each and EVERY one of these souls—having been tortured by the brain of a psychopathic monster who may have been your neighbor or mine, living just down the street from today’s generation of innocent children playing king of the hill in readiness to push each other down as do adults, aspiring to do whatever it takes to reach the top of the mount ... why did trump stop playing golf and return to D. C. earlier than planned—certainly not because children are starving—referencing not needy children in Europe but millions suffering congressional neglect, across The USA—today.

And don’t even get me started about the unleashing of the dark side of Covid, which actually harbors a silver lining of sorts in that during the absence of trump’s utter lack of a plan or compassion concerning hundreds of thousands of deaths, our present day Ming the Merciless would have won re-election in a landslide had he not lied so brashly about his twisted ability to reinvent science to fit his political agenda, re-emphasizing terrifying thoughts about the gaggle of beliefs that actually rattle around inside millions of American minds ...

Every day, while watching Don Lemon looking ever more exhausted on national TV, I wonder, incredulously, why does the majority of people in our nation, who admit that our constitution, penned hundreds of years ago, is in dire need of amending, sit complacently by, eyes wide open, heartfelt hypertension pulsing passively away while in wait of who-knows-which red button trump’s traitorous total lack of lucidity remains free to push as did Ming The Merciless, week after week, when I was a child, watching catsup splattering across a 19 inch screen, whereas the bloodbath that we may continue to free trump to actually perpetrate upon the world, concerning the self-destruction of HIS empire, consists of human life—

HAPPY NEW YEAR USA 2021

Good morning, dear friends—for several years, I found the buzz word to be ‘mindful’, now, following four heartless years of trump’s administration, the buzz word that comes to mind most often is ‘kind’, suggesting our need to grow much more mindful of offering heartfelt kindness wherever we go—

And so, wrapped within our gift basket for you and all you love is this loving hope—may your little corner of the world be filled with good health and loving kindness, topped with a bright sunny dollop of peace of mind soaring ever so freely over a clear blue sky—

Happy New Year!

PS

Befitting our New Year’s Eve celebration in quarantine, my husband, Will and I chose to watch:  Death to 2020–

This ‘mockumentory’ on Netflix summarized a year that’s not to be believed as true—except for the fact that it was! 🀦🏻‍♀️

After that movie, we watched a heartwarming film based upon the true life experiences of a pair of brothers, whose love for one another (and football) inspired their youthful escape from their parents’ life of drug abuse and poverty.

I’m really glad to have watched the upbeat nature of the latter before falling asleep, last night. πŸ™‹πŸ»‍♀️Annie
